A selection of spreads from a book illustrated for Amplify’s Spanish-language curriculum (Grade 1).

Jaime & the Giant Cactus is a sweet story about a young boy who is enchanted by the giant cactus in his Arizona backyard. The story celebrates Jaime’s sense of wonder & curiosity at the interconnectedness of nature all around him—the cactus that houses the birds and then heals itself back up; the flowers that blossom into fruits in the summertime to feed them—and his use of art as a tool for assimilation / imagination.

This fast paced project was completed over the first few months of 2022. It was my first experience illustrating for something of this scale (about 80 spreads of illustration!).
